Proverbs 16:28

Proverbs 16:28 Proverbs

Pastor Albert N. Martin expounds Proverbs 16:28, which warns against the 'perverse man' who 'scatters abroad strife' and the 'whisperer' who 'separates chief friends.' He highlights how children quickly learn the 'devilish art of being whisperers,' driven by jealousy to sow seeds of doubt and alienation between others. Martin urges parents to recognize and rebuke this sin in their children, and even better, to proactively prepare and immunize them against becoming instruments of the devil in separating friends.

Whispering to Separate Friends

Driving home: They whisper so little seeds of doubt to bring alienation between those parties.

Martin describes a scenario where someone, jealous of a relationship between two others, whispers doubts to separate them, illustrating the motive and method of the 'whisperer' from Proverbs 16:28.

So-and-so's closer to this third party than they are, and they're jealous of that relationship, so they want to separate party two and three so they can get closer to party three. And what do they do? They whisper so little seeds of doubt to bring alienation between those parties. Yes, your children do that.
